The landscape of the Joyce Country and Western Lakes geopark is characterised by a contrast between the uplands of the Partry Mountains and Maumtrasna, the Maumturk mountains, Ben Beg, Lugnabrick and Mount Gable to the West and the lowlands starting at the shores of Loughs Mask, Carra and Corrib to the East. The Geopark is a fine example of a glacial landscape which features numerous sediments and habitats, as well as a Karst landscape around Cong.
